VIRTUAL STUDIO \ GROUP LESSON DESCRIPTION

In this course we’ll be spending a month learning about the masters of the Pre-Renaissance period.

This is such an important area of study, as to understand the Renaissance we need to go back 200 years before it began and see what the greats of their day were producing, what innovations they were making, and what ground-breaking changes they pushed. Artists beginning with Cimabue, onto his pupil Giotto, later the master Duccio di Buoninsegna, and away from Florence to the sublime city of Siena to look at Simone Martini. I love this period in the history of Art, and it’s always such a pleasure to share it with you, both in terms of lessons about the work, and painting together ourselves to try to recreate some of the majesty of these amazing works of art.

Join Julian and a small art group together online, for 4 x 100 minute lessons throughout the month.

Each lesson will be divided between various areas of interest on this subject while sketching and painting for an hour eash lesson in our travel journals. The classes will be a mix of Art History, a little culture, and of course some drawing and painting in our virtual travel journals.

Students will be working alongside Julian during these live sessions as he explains travel sketching, watercolour painting, and how to make a beautiful and rewarding travel journal. The group will be limited to 12 students (in 3 timezone groups) in order that you will have an opportunity for one-on-one personal assistance and a little critique at the end. We hope this will be a lot of fun and that the group atmosphere will inspire you to produce some terrific artwork.

GROUP LESSONS

All levels welcome. From beginner to professional, these virtual lessons are valuable to expand your abilities, skills, and range of possibilities. In a fun and relaxed atmosphere, you’ll be able to receive the time and attention you’ll need to accomplish your goal of either continuing on current work, or creating something new for the first time!

Each group online lesson will be conducted through Zoom (the virtual classroom). We will send complete instructions on how to easily connect to this after sign up. All you’ll need to do is click the link and we’ll be waiting!

INSTRUCTOR

Julian Hyzler will be your instructor for this unique online program. As the founder of Artist in Italy and Easel&Lens, he has been leading international art groups since 2012 and teaching students of all ages and abilities for over 25 years. Adept in various mediums and techniques, from painting (oil, acrylic, water) and drawing, to photography and mixed media, Julian will lead each student in a personalised program designed for each skill-level and interest.
